The Isle of Skye

The Skye bridge with the Cuillins behind

Strome Ferry is the perfect base to explore the Isle of Skye. It is about 20 mins by car to the Skye bridge or during the summer you can drive down to Glenelg and get the wee ferry to really get the"Over the sea to Skye" experience! It is also possible to get a train from Strome Ferry to Kyle of lochalsh where day tours of Skye are available. Wild in Scotland run 3 day budget tours from Edinburgh which stay at our hostel and spend a whole day exploring Skye.

Skye is well worth a visit, whether you are a seasoned walker or just want an easy jaunt, it is all here. The Cuillin Mountains stamp their mark over the whole island, but there are also easier places to walk, like The Coral beaches, the Quiraing And Neist point.

Portree is the main town with ample pubs, restaurants and gift shops. Have a tour at Talisker distillery or just immerse yourself in the history and folklore of the island.
